7th Gr. Digital Self Portrait: More Flipped Classroom Examples

7th graders are working on a digital self portrait using either the Chrome app, Pixlr, or Photoshop. I have set up several tutorial options to help students get familiar with the apps in addition to live class demos. I made a video screencastn(uploaded to Youtube) of my Pixlr demo and used Aweseome screenshot to make a cheatsheet. I set a Youtube playlist of various Pixlr demos and made a audiocast as well. These are all available to the student through their Haiku class pages.

6th Grade Paper Brain Models

As my school joins the maker and stem movement, more and more of collegial conversations focus on student projects as problem solving. The need for students to understand and to manipulate materials is imperative. One such project incorporates all of these ideas. It is the origami paper brain model by Martin Pyka. 5th Grade: Art History and Research

5th graders are researching dragons from different cultures. The students are creating a collaborative Google Slide presentation with their research summaries and original sketches. Next week, they will create their own illustrations and interpretations of St. George and the Dragon.
