Fourth Grade Art: Comic Strips, Trading Cards, and Google Classroom

The fourth graders are working on comic strip and trading cards based on their own super heros. Links and pictures of super heros from cultures around the world are provided for a flipped classroom experience in Google classroom. Below, are some images from Google classroom. Google classroom is great for lesson planning and, when needed, sub plans.

6th Grade Paper Brain Models

As my school joins the maker and stem movement, more and more of collegial conversations focus on student projects as problem solving. The need for students to understand and to manipulate materials is imperative. One such project incorporates all of these ideas. It is the origami paper brain model by Martin Pyka. 5th Grade students are studying writing systems. Today we looked at this beautiful tile that has calligraphic writing! 5th Grade: Art History and Research

5th graders are researching dragons from different cultures. The students are creating a collaborative Google Slide presentation with their research summaries and original sketches. Next week, they will create their own illustrations and interpretations of St. George and the Dragon.
