Van Gogh: Khan Academy and MOMA

The 4th graders are learning Van Gogh's Starry Night.  They read details about the painting and his life from a MOMA podcast and a Khan Academy article. The student will be doing a portion of the painting with thick brushstrokes and vivid colors. Architectural Gems and Life Long Learning in the Local Kane County Forest Preserve

As the school year begins, I get excited about sharing, teaching, exploring art with my students. Local history can inspire lifelong learning! This past weekend I took a short jaunt to Batavia and discover a Frank Lloyd House in the local Kane County forest preserve. The Fabyan family supported code breaking research and the development of sound instruments. The museum also houses authentic Japanese armor and a marble sculpture from the World's Fair in Chicago.
